This year’s International Women’s Day 2026 Tameside – Give to Gain event brought together organisations, community leaders, and women from across Tameside for a morning centred on empowerment, shared learning, and collective action.
Hosted at Tameside One Campus in Ashton‑under‑Lyne, the event focused on this year’s global theme, “Give To Gain,” which highlights how generosity, whether through mentorship, resources, advocacy, or time, creates meaningful, long‑lasting progress for women and communities worldwide.
Bromleys proudly co-sponsored the event alongside GM Business Growth Hub, GM Build A Business, Action Together and Tameside Means Business, reflecting our ongoing commitment to supporting positive change within Greater Manchester.
Why Does “Give To Gain” Matter for Our Local Community?
The official International Women’s Day 2026 campaign explains that giving, whether time, advocacy, knowledge, or opportunities, creates a ripple effect that lifts entire communities. “Giving is not a subtraction, it’s intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.”
This message resonates deeply here in Tameside, where partnership‑driven initiatives and local support networks are central to community life. The event emphasised that empowerment isn’t limited to large gestures, it also happens through everyday acts of solidarity, mentoring, listening, and showing up for one another.
Who Joined Us in Celebrating Women Across Tameside?
Hosted by Sarah Crossley, founder of Your Well‑Being Company, the event brought together over 65 attendees from different sectors across the borough.
The speaker line‑up reflected the incredible diversity and resilience within our community, featuring:
- Agnes Fough – Roving Museum / WAD
- Natalie Paul – Finding Rainbows
- Shamaila Nadeem – Chair of WISH / Khush Amdid
- Emma Liston – Karen’s Haven for COPD
- Joanne Spurgeon & Emma Varnam – Tameside Council
- Clare Taylor‑Smith – Pure Insight
- Erin Clarke – Associate Solicitor, Bromleys
Each speaker shared personal stories that highlighted the power of giving, whether through community activism, health advocacy, bereavement support, youth empowerment, or public sector leadership.
What Did Bromleys Bring to This Year’s Celebration?
Erin Clarke, Associate Solicitor in our Wills & Probate team at Bromleys, delivered a powerful speech connecting the “Give To Gain” theme to the work Bromleys undertakes every day.
Erin highlighted how giving back is woven into our firm’s identity, from fundraising and charity partnerships to the compassionate guidance we provide to clients during vulnerable moments.
She reflected on how preparing a Will can itself be an act of giving, providing clarity, comfort and protection for loved ones, and enabling legacies that support vital charities. This aligns strongly with the global IWD message that giving takes many forms, including long‑term acts that strengthen future generations.
Erin also celebrated the progress of women in the legal profession, noting that five of Bromleys’ seven departments are led by women, a testament to our commitment to equality and representation.
How Does Tameside’s IWD Event Strengthen the Borough?
Events like this create space for collaboration, inspiration and meaningful conversation. Attendees discussed overcoming burnout, celebrating women’s achievements, and building supportive networks that drive real progress.
By bringing together charities, local businesses, entrepreneurs, public‑sector leaders and grassroots organisations, Tameside’s International Women’s Day showcases exactly what “Give To Gain” looks like in practice.
